  • Aqua is an upbeat and stylish bar and grill frequented by young professionals who work in the Financial District. Thursdays and Saturdays feature DJs who spin Top 40 and hip-hop; Fridays pit great drinks specials with some of Boston’s top cover bands. In addition, the kitchen serves up delish bites like fried calamari and popcorn shrimp until 9pm.

Avalon

  • Avalon is a 2,000 plus capacity multi purpose venue and regularly plays host to both the world’s top DJ talent. It is relatively pricy with mixed drinks that start at a little above 7 dollars. Some nights the club allows 18+ guests and others the minimum age is 19. The club usually plays house music and “special nights” include those with bands, fashion shows, or alternative lifestyle events. The age group is usually younger and the club attracts college students. The ambiance can be described as progressive ad dress code is no sportswear, sneakers, or headgear.

Jake Ivory’s

  • Jake Ivory’s is America’s hottest dueling piano show. The club provides non-stop,sing-along, super-charged piano entertainment. Who can resist rock’n’roll songs from the 1950’s through now! Dress code is casual – jeans, sneakers and hats are acceptable. Nevertheless, the club has a 21+ age minimum every Friday and Saturday night.

  • Modern pretty much sums up the ambience, clientele, and overall experience that awaits you at this bar. Situated next to the Avalon Club, it is the quintessence of trendy and vogue. Martinis are the drink of choice here, and the music selection centers around Latin and House. DJs vary by night along with the cover charge ($5-$10).

Roxy

  • Roxy is Boston’s largest nightclub complex including three other nightclubs: Pure, Encore, Caprice. Roxy is relatively pricey with mixed drinks usually at 10+ dollars. The age minimum to enter is 19 for both guys and girls, and both State ID and an additional ID (college) are required. Music is generally House Music/Top 40 although special events like salsa Saturdays may be scheduled. The club attacks a 20ish sophisticated crowd and the ambiance is described as sophisticated. A dress code applies and it is recommended to call ahead of time to check the guest list.

The Middle East Restaurant and Nightclub

  • The Middle East Restaurant and Nightclub consists of three live-music performance rooms, two family-style restaurants with full sercice bars, and an elegant restaurant named ZuZu (the childhood nickname of one of the proprietors). Both the staff and the customers are an international mix of musicians, students, townspeople and professionals. The prices of drinks are at the lower end of the spectrum, usually in the 4-5 dollar range. Nights are almost always 18 age minimum and school IDs are accepted. Although it is highly recommended to bring a state ID too. Music is primarily in the rock genre and it is a hot spot for local bands. It is totally a college scene and is described as low key, with no dress code.
