COVID-19 Rules & FAQ

At HNMUN 2022, we are committed to protecting the safety and health of all our delegates, staff members, and partners. Failure to adhere to the policies outlined below may result in being removed from award considerations or from the conference entirely.

  1. Vaccine Requirement: All delegates participating in HNMUN 2022 are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and must upload proof of their vaccination status prior to conference. Furthermore, all international delegates must abide by federal guidelines, which at this time require foreign travelers to be fully vaccinated before entering the United States of America.

*** Proof of vaccination must be uploaded through this form.

  2. COVID Testing Requirement: All delegates are required to show proof of a negative result from a medically certifiable COVID test (e.g. a PCR test) taken within 72 hours prior to check-in at Registration. We strongly advise all participants to be tested either on February 7th or 8th in order to allow test results one or two days to arrive. The head delegate or faculty advisor checking in on behalf of their delegation at Registration must prepare to present COVID test results of all members of their delegation in order to complete badge and placard pickup. A delegation as a whole may be barred from entering committee sessions until every member of their delegation has received a verifiable result from a valid COVID test.

    • If all members of the delegation test negative, the delegation may proceed to attend Opening Ceremonies and Committee Session I.

    • If one or more members test positive, the delegation is responsible for securing separate isolation room(s) to house members who have tested positive. Delegates who newly test positive are not allowed to participate in any HNMUN event. Other members of the delegation who test negative may still participate in HNMUN events once they secure room(s) separate from member(s) who tested positive and test negative using a rapid COVID test kit and have no symptoms.

    • If a delegate has recovered from COVID within the last 90 days, they must present their positive test result and a signed letter from a licensed healthcare provider or a public health official that states they have been cleared to end isolation and to travel. Given that people who recover from COVID-19 can still test positive for up to three months after infection, delegates with documentation of recovery are exempt from the 72-hour testing requirement.

  3. Mask Mandate: All delegates must wear properly fitted masks at all HNMUN events. The use of cloth/fabric masks are not recognized as valid forms of masking at HNMUN. A director may issue a formal warning and dismiss a delegate from a session or an event if a delegate fails to comply. The Secretariat may also dismiss the delegate from the conference entirely and/or exclude their entire affiliated delegation from award considerations.

  4. Symptom-Check Survey: All delegates are required to submit the HNMUN Symptom-Check Survey prior to every committee session. Committee directors will not mark a delegate as ‘Present’ unless the delegate in question has submitted the survey.

  5. Protocol for Delegates Experiencing Potential COVID Symptoms:

    • Delegates are considered as experiencing symptoms of a potential COVID infection if they have either a fever or a new loss of taste/smell.

    • Delegates are also considered symptomatic if they experience two or more of the following symptoms: shortness of breath, headache, sore throat, persistent cough, congested / runny nose, and nausea.

    • Symptomatic delegates must submit a Symptoms-Check Survey, skip their committee session, purchase a rapid COVID test kit, and return to their accommodation to test themselves using the kit.

    • Delegates may choose to return to committee sessions if their test comes back negative and they are not experiencing a fever. Please continue to monitor your symptoms, and test again if symptoms return or worsen. Notify your roommates regarding your symptoms.

  6. Protocol for Delegates Who Test Positive using a Rapid COVID Test:

    1. Delegates who test positive using a rapid test kit must immediately email the Director-General at dg@hnmun.org with their individual name, delegation name, committee assignment, country/character assignment, faculty advisor or head-delegate contact information, and roommate(s) contact information.

    2. After a positive test result, delegates must isolate in their room, notify their head-delegate and roommates, and not attend HNMUN events.

    3. Roommates of the delegate who tested positive must also purchase and use the rapid test kit. If they test positive, they must also isolate. If they test negative and are not suffering any symptoms, they may return to conference events after securing a separate accommodation.

    4. Failure to follow above steps after a positive test may result in being banned from future conferences and the rest of the delegation being removed from award considerations at HNMUN 2022.

  7. All HNMUN staff members will undergo PCR testing daily throughout the conference.
