Reproductive, Sexual, AND Maternal Health
Reproductive, sexual, and maternal health affects the emotional and physical well-being of countless individuals every day. Whether it be due to menstrual pain or from childbirth, those who are affected suffer from the stigmas of others. And despite the inclusion in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights remarking how everyone has a certain standard to be held for their well-being. There has been progress made in regards to reproductive health with contraceptives that were also previously disgraced upon, such as condoms and birth control.
Though they have been normalized in some countries, not all countries are as forward with their movement on reproductive rights. Especially with extremely controversial topics such as abortion, countries continually are changing policies due to conflicting beliefs.

Thus, delegates, it is important to recognize that the main cause for a lack of progress with reproductive, sexual, and maternal health is the prejudice of people. Whether it be certain religious belief systems that criticize certain practices or social standards, people are unable to have access to facilities, contraceptives, or devices that will allow them to practice safer sex, prevent pregnancies, etc. This becomes even more difficult for those in the LGBTQIA+ community. Thus, it is extremely important to note that the majority of the cultural and social barriers that need to be overcome to make change.
